Udo's Choice- Green Blend (Product Review)

(Make your mom proud and eat your greens!)

Over the past few months I have been able to try more and more of the Udo's Choice quality products.  Many people have heard about Udo's Oil (which I regularly take), but not many people that I've talked to know about the many other products offered by this growing company.  HERE is a link to a website where you can learn more about everything from the conception of the product and company to all the different products and nutritional information.

This featured "Green Blend" has been another "regular" in my dietary regimen and I absolutely love the ingredients and benefits.  As a vegan athlete I am surely consuming loads of leafy greens and vegetables but this product offers much more in a convenient power-packed powder.  In the past I have been known to stuff lots of various types of greens into the Vita-mix along with fruit and other favorite ingredients to make a nutritionally loaded shake.  Lately I've been saving the greens for salads and other recipes and instead adding 2 tablespoons of Green Blend to the smoothie.  This is a product I highly recommend!  Let me know how you like it....and take a look at all the killer ingredients and nutritional information below:

I live off of Lucky Charms and diet coke. Everyone always tells me that if I were to eat more healthy I would be a much better runner.

I guess we will never know. HA!

Evan, I can tell by your blogger profile picture that you could use some more greens in your diet! ;-) Good luck at H.U.R.T. and see you in Feb. :-)

PS: Add some of the Green Blend to your lucky charms...you'll never even know it's in there!

Yassine, have you heard how some say that we shouldn't supplement Omega 6, since we already get too much of it? I was using Udo's 3/6/9 for awhile but am wondering if I should just go back to an Omega 3. On the other hand, I eat hardly any processed or "bad fats," so maybe I need it...?

The Green Blend looks great, and I'm going to try it on my Lucky Charms for sure. Thanks for the tip.

Yes I have heard that David. What I have learned is that it is all about the balance and ratio of Omega 6 to 3. Ideally it should be around 4:1 (Omega 6 to Omega 3) and the average U.S. diet sometimes gets as high as 30:1 ! I think the Green Blend is more focused on the other ingredients and their benefits and actually adds some of the E.F.A. in a "backward" ratio (to the ratio above) in order to compensate for the average U.S. diet discrepancy. Not sure...but that's my theory.

Every person's situation is different based on their diet (vegan, vegetarian, etc.) as far as the supplementation goes and there is more research being done on endurance athletes taking more, etc. I have found that the oil being a regular part of my diet has helped w/ inflammation/recovery, etc. but like I said everyone is different.
